Banker commits suicide after killing his wife

Mike Ilishebo, a 44-year-old ex-banker, committed suicide in Zambia following the suspected murder of his 35-year-old wife, Valerie Franco.

The event occurred on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in the Meanwood Ndeke Phase One district of Lusaka.

Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, stating that Ilishebo used an electric power adaptor wire to choke Valerie and stabbed her in the stomach with a knife.

Hamoonga stated that the reason for the occurrence seemed to be rooted in a protracted marital conflict between the couple, who have a joint eight-month-old child.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at around 16:05 hours, Chelston Police Station received the following statement via Ndeke-Vorna Police Post.

Alice Mapulanga, 38, reported to the authorities that Mr. Ilishebo had committed a grave crime against his 35-year-old wife, Valerie.

When the police arrived at the site, they found Ms. Franco’s dead corpse in the bedroom next to the bed.

They discovered a knife lodged in her abdomen. Meanwhile, they found Mr. Ilishebo lifeless in the sitting room, a dark liquid emanating from his lips.

Reports claim that Mr. Ilishebo strangled Ms. Franco with an electric power adapter wire before stabbing her in the stomach with a knife.

He then consumed a deadly substance, leading to his own death. The University Teaching Hospital’s mortuary received the corpses for further examination.
