El-Rufai drags Tinubu to court

Nasir El-Rufai, the ex-governor of Kaduna State, is making arrangements to initiate legal proceedings against President Bola Tinubu. According to Vanguard, El-Rufai intends to present his case in court, concurrently preparing for a political confrontation that could potentially jeopardize the president’s chances of re-election in 2027.

The Tinubu government’s alleged public humiliation of the former governor sets the backdrop for the upcoming struggle. They labelled him as a security risk and deemed him unsuitable for ministerial duty.

El-Rufai’s will to vindicate himself in court is apparent in the face of these accusations.

We expect the legal dispute between these influential politicians to be a momentous event in Nigerian politics.

According to reports, Nasir El-Rufai’s supporters said that the Tinubu government subjected the 64-year-old to public humiliation. The purported inability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader to secure a security clearance surprised many of his colleagues, considering his influential role in persuading northern governors to support Tinubu in the 2023 election campaign.

The Middle-Belt Patriotic Congress (MBPC) expressed apprehension over an alleged scheme by El-Rufai to exert influence over the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to obtain financial backing for his suspected presidential ambitions.

The organisation alleged that El-Rufai is now garnering the backing of powerful individuals in the northern area as a means to subvert President Tinubu’s administration.
