On the night of April 19, 2024, the Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, met with the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee to Investigate the Turnaround Maintenance of Nigeria’s Refineries over the commencement of operations at the Port Harcourt Refinery.

Another important agenda item on the courtesy visit of the committee was the completion of the Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Road, to provide a bypass to easily access the Port Harcourt Refinery and take off traffic from the East-West Road.

He further appreciated and encouraged the members of the committee who showed, irrespective of the political jamboree going on in the state. In addition, he established that his administration aims to work in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Sim Fubara reiterated, “We might be a state, as it is being presented that we have issues. But we don’t have any issues. Our eyes are on the ball to deliver for our people.

“Even in the face of this deliberate distraction, we will not fail our people because, in the end, it is the impact we make on our people that counts.”

He advised that, although interest is a major driver in politics, the interest of the people should be the primary priority of anyone in power.
