Kano Receives 120,000 bags of rice from Dangote, part of statewide distribution of one million bags
Chairman of the Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliki Dangote, in his pledge to distribute one million bags of rice to the needy in Nigeria, on Saturday, March 22, 2024, kicked off the distribution in Kano State. In order to reach one million vulnerable persons in the 774 Local Government areas across the nation, he said that one million 10-kg bags of rice would be provided.
He mentioned that 10,000 meals were provided in Kano municipality each evening during the breaking of the Ramadan fast and that the distribution was taking place concurrently with the 10,000-person daily feeding programme.
Commencing in the COVID-19 period, 20,000 family-sized loaves of bread are being distributed in Kano, and 125,000 loaves of bread are being distributed in Lagos.
“The team is also working on the nutrition agenda and has made great progress in food fortification, investing in sugar fortification with vitamin A and iodized salt,” he stated.
The state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, showed immense gratitude for the gesture and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support.
The Trustees of Hisbah will make sure the distribution committee distributes the goodies impartially, fairly, and transparently. In order to increase Allah’s blessings on our community, he continued, “It is imperative that many citizens benefit from the gesture.”
In an effort to imitate Dangote, Yusuf urged other affluent Nigerians to help the less fortunate.
Finally, Dangote established that the goal is for this compassion, solidarity, and responsibility to spread across the thirty-six states of the federation, alongside the Federal Capital Territory.
