Assailants burn down Anambra police station
Some unidentified assailants have set fire to the police divisional headquarters in Nneni, Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The hoodlums broke into the facility early Thursday morning and tossed explosive devices, causing portions of the structure to fire.
According to a source and a local resident, the hoodlums attempted to release several convicts at the institution but were unsuccessful because police personnel on duty resisted the onslaught.
According to a source in the vicinity, the hoodlums were chanting, “DPO must go.” He has overstayed. He has lived in Anaocha for more than 15 years.According to the informant, the hoodlums said that Anaocha Police Station had become another SARS station, where numerous terrible things were taking place.
The State Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the occurrence.According to him, despite the fact that the hoodlums attacked the police station with homemade explosive devices, they did not steal any weapons or kidnap any officers.
He continued, “The superior firepower of the police operatives successfully repelled the hoodlums, forcing them to flee.” Police efforts have commenced in the region to locate individuals responsible for the incident.
