After what seems to be a deteriorating democratic administration by many who have led the nation over the past 23 years of democracy beginning with the administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999 to usher the 4th republic of Nigeria’s democracy by the ruling party PDP and later APC, a new era emmergies with an adroit presidential candidate from a minority party, the Labour Party(LP).
Unfortunately, despite Nigeria’s position as a regional power in Africa and an emerging global power, no administration has been able to see to the economic advancement of the nation beyond expectations of many. The question then remains what happens after 23 years of a promised and failed democracy and who are Nigerians willing to give federative powers to, not forgetting that the running candidates represent the three main ethnic groups in Nigeria, will citizens vote on the basis of integrity or ethnicity and thirst for ruling powers?
