Atiku Set to float a new mega party ahead of 2027.
Political calculations and permutations are already underway ahead of the 2027 general elections, which are three years away. According to reports, opposition parties under the leadership of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have agreed to establish a new political party before the general elections in 2027. According to sources, the goal of this attempt is to wrestle power away from the current APC.
It has been revealed that Atiku’s team is concerned about the fragmentation in the major opposition party, the PDP, believing that if it persists until 2027, the party will be unable to seize power from the governing party.
There are also rumours that the former Vice President has been in contact with former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, who ran for Senate President but lost to Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Abdul Ningi, Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF), may also have been enlisted as a foot soldier in the Senate to carry out the plot.
Ningi’s comments last week caused consternation in the National Assembly.
Recall that in January, Professor Pat Utomi and other eminent political economists said that Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso had agreed to join and establish an opposition party. Utomi, an Obi ally, also indicated in an interview that the action was intended to take power away from the ruling party.
