North West Drops Album ‘Elementary School Dropout’ Soon

What is a ten-year-old in Nigeria or in a country like Nigeria doing?

If she’s an early scholar, probably in her freshman year of secondary school or last year of primary school, she’s probably an average or not-so-late scholar. This scholar is most likely told by her ward to suspend every distraction and focus on her studies for academic excellence. North West, the daughter of an American hip hop star, Kanye West, and a fashion icon and reality TV star, Kim Kardashian, who according to records has the most unique name as of her birth and naming, begs to differ. She is defying all odds, pursuing her dreams, and attempting to etch her name in the music hall of fame.

The proverbial apple that doesn’t fall far from the tree is North. North has ventured into music, following in the footsteps of her father, Kanye West. The screen is not alien to her either, as the mother is a reality TV star of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. If being in the celebrity spotlight and creating music is passed down through familial traits, North is good to go.

Where does this ten-year-old get her artistic inspiration? On February 10, 2004, Kanye West dropped an album titled ‘The College Dropout’. The album has themes hinged on not just higher education but family, racism, and self-consciousness. This album garnered accolades as the Rap Album of the Year, which was Kanye’s first. She has had a world-class appearance on her father’s Vultures 1, a collaborative studio album with Ty Dolla $ign. With this exposure and experience, the ten-year-old North West is working on her first album, Elementary School Drop Out.’ The American music industry and, of course, the entire world await the release of North with the classic YAGI (Young And Gettin It) trait and the message of the album.

What message is the Wests sending to America and across the world? Is this a notion that supports “school is a scam” or a concerted effort to support one’s dream, especially at a very early stage?
