In the wee hours of April 6, 2024, bandits attacked the Federal Government’s grain silo in the Dutsinma Local Government of Katsina State. However, the Agro of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has repelled an attack by suspected bandits. Mr. Buhari Hamisu, spokesman for the NSCDC, said the bandits wanted to destroy the silo and abduct its manager, Mr. Lawal Shitu-Yar’adua.
According to him, the valiant operatives overpowered the criminals, who scaled the rear fence of the reserve and escaped with serious injuries. “The silo was not damaged, nor did the criminals succeed in their nefarious act.”
To ensure that this kind of incident would not happen again, Hamisu claimed that the NSDC had sent additional troops to the scene and given the operatives extra ammunition.
He further established that the command remains dedicated to promoting safety and security for the good of the state and Nigeria as a whole, as well as providing adequate protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.
