Julius Abure re-elected LP national chairman
With the full backing of delegates, Julius Abure has been re-elected to a second term as the National Chairman of the Labour Party. At the party’s national convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Wednesday, Mr. Ikechukwu Emetu, the chairman of the convention and deputy governor of Abia State, was declared the winner.
The party’s other active officers were likewise given their returns. Recall that the NLC had demanded that Abure step down as party chairman and that a caretaker transition committee be established right away in order to plan the party’s legal and inclusive national convention.
The Nnewi national convention won’t hold, according to Mr. Peter Okoye, the factional chairman of the Labour Party in Anambra State.
“This is not a convention,” declared Okoye, characterising the gathering as a farce.
We’ve got this under control. It isn’t legal at all. ” There was no state congress, no ward congress, and no local government congress.”
“Who are the elected delegates that are choosing the members of the National Working Committee, or NWC? In addition to the party owners, NEC members, and BOT members, the NLC, TUC, and other organisations were absent. Who is hosting the convention, then?”
