Why Don’t African Countries Help Each Other?

Sudan has plunged into civil wars that have worsened its poverty level. People are dying in large numbers due to shortages of food and other essentials. Yet, the focus often seems to be on the lack of assistance from the US, the EU, and other wealthy countries. Critics would often say, ‘But if this were Ukraine, the response would likely be different.’ However, Ukraine is European and predominantly white. Or do you think only Black people see each other as brothers?

The more pertinent question might be: why are African countries not helping Sudan? One doesn’t need to be wealthy to help others. Helping doesn’t always equal monetary value. If you are unwilling to help someone while earning £10,000, it is unlikely you will help if you earn £100,000. Universal charity requires a mindset that prioritises collective well-being. Unfortunately, this concept is not deeply embedded in many African cultures. This doesn’t imply they are uncaring; it may simply not be part of their cultural framework.

In contrast, numerous war-torn and impoverished regions around the world see white Europeans and Americans dedicating their lives to charitable causes. Generally, a typical white European, American, Canadian, New Zealander, or Australian donates to charity not because they are wealthy but because it is part of their cultural values to consider the needs of others. In Africa, however, nine out of ten Africans earning over $3,000 a month do not contribute to charity. In contrast, six out of ten white Americans, Canadians, Europeans, or Britons who earn even less do donate or contribute in some capacity. Black Africans living in Europe and North America donate the least to charities.

How much has Gabon donated to Somalia, or how much has Angola contributed to Chad? People with ingrained charitable values typically have organised charities in various capacities. No group on Earth is as charitable as the white man. Despite Africa’s poverty, it doesn’t have philanthropic organisations dedicated to alleviating the suffering of its most vulnerable. Instead, they are stealing from the weak, poor, and less privileged. This is not funny!

How many Nigerians, Congolese, Ghanaians, or Kenyans have you seen dedicating their lives to charity work in places like Nepal, Haiti, or Afghanistan? Yet, if you travel to even the most remote communities in Africa, you will likely find a European or American working for a charity to improve the lives of local residents. In fact, if a Black African were to express to their peers or parents that their dream was to dedicate their life to helping the poor, they’d think they’re crazy or acting white.

When a white person is privileged to be wealthy, they often create a foundation or contribute in some way to help those in need, such as the poor, the blind, single parents, veterans, lonely elderly people, and those with dementia, among others. But when a Black person makes $1 million, they buy luxury items like a Ferrari or Lamborghini, get diamond-encrusted teeth, and wear designer clothes, often in environments littered and in poor condition. I mean, a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Rolls-Royce in countries without dealerships. So, every time it breaks down, you have to import the parts or ship them out for repair. Black people are the biggest waste on the face of the Earth. African celebrities like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Fally Ipupa, and Diamond Platnumz would often throw cash into the crowd; you should see the crowd screaming and fighting each other to grab their share as the notes rain down at random. That is their own idea of charity.

Many Africans who were fortunate enough to play in European football leagues and earn millions grew up in poverty. One might expect that they would return home to build schools or establish standardised charitable systems in their communities and countries. However, that is not the case. This doesn’t imply that they are evil; instead, it suggests that such concepts may not exist within their worldview.

In the U.S., U.K., and Canada, where data is available, Black people donate blood and organs significantly less than white people, even though they often require medical assistance, blood, and organs more than white people do. White donors contribute more than any other racial group. As a result, in situations where compatibility is essential, Black patients frequently face longer wait times than white patients due to the lack of Black donors. Some Black people even call the delayed waiting time racism.

Even after living in the Western hemisphere for hundreds of years and having no contact with Africa, Black people in the West exhibit behaviours similar to those in Africa. This is interesting, isn’t it? When the Rwandan-backed M23 rebels captured the key eastern Congolese city of Goma—killing many and ravaging villages and towns—how many African countries rushed in to help facilitate dialogue? It was actually Trump, the president of a country thousands of miles away, who had to intervene. How many African countries have donated food or clothing, or even set up a hotline, to support the people of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan? None! But the racist whites of America and Europe have been pouring aid into both countries. But as the white aid reaches the Africans, in return, the Africans are blaming all of their downfall on racism, colonisation and the same white man who gives them freebies.

The challenge in Africa isn’t solely with its leaders; it lies within the people themselves. None of the leaders appeared out of the blue; they are products of their societies. It isn’t a coincidence that forty-nine Black African countries in sub-Saharan Africa elect similar leadership. If you were to replace the Nigerian president with any random Nigerian from another ethnic group, they would likely behave in the same way. The narrative holds true for other Black African countries as well. What is needed is a complete overhaul of worldviews, cultural practices, lifestyles, and, most importantly, an entirely new approach to education, as the current system has taught them nothing but made them dumber.
