Nigerian Army rescue Lydia Simon; Chibok girl abducted in 2014
The Nigerian Army has successfully freed Lydia Simon, a student at Chibok Secondary School who was abducted on April 14, 2014.
The forces stationed in the north-east region were responsible for this operation.
The Army issued a statement on Friday, according to the Department of Army Public Relations.
Forces executing Operation Desert Sanity III at Ngoshe in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State recovered Lydia, the 68th of the abducted Chibok Secondary School girls, along with her three children, according to the statement. At the time of her rescue, Lydia was in her fifth month of pregnancy and stated that she hails from Pemi Town in Chibok.
The statement further said that the military forces effectively executed a surprise attack and eliminated three terrorists in the Tse Kpese Community located in the Zaki Biam Local Government of Benue State.
In the operation, the authorities seized three AK-47 weapons and four magazines from the terrorists.
