The Edo impeachment saga takes a new turn
On Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja refused to stop the impeachment proceedings initiated by the Edo State House of Assembly against the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu.
In a surprising turn of events, Justice James Omotosho rejected a request made by Shaibu’s lawyer, Prof. Olawoyin Awoyale (SAN), to maintain the status quo in the ongoing suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/321/2024.
Shaibu’s lawyer, Prof. Olawoyin Awoyale (SAN), made the oral application, but the court declined to order the parties to comply.
The judge rejected the request, citing improper service of the initial lawsuit summons on the Governor of Edo State and the Edo State House of Assembly, the main parties involved in the case, as required by law.
