Edo State Deputy Governor, Phillib Shuaibu, is facing impeachment.
Edo State House of Assembly initiated impeachment procedures against Deputy Governor Phillip Shuaibu today. Charity Aigbuobarueghain, the House majority leader, disclosed this information today in Benin.
21 out of 24 members of the Edo State House of Assembly endorsed a petition alleging that the deputy governor committed perjury and disclosed confidential government information.Phillip Shuaibu succeeded Pius Odubu as deputy governor in 2016 after Odubu fell out with former governor Adams Oshiomole and was also at risk of impeachment.
Shuaibu served as majority leader of the Edo State House of Assembly and later became the deputy governor under Godwin Obaseki.
