TCN restores the collapsed national grid
The Transmission Company of Nigeria has successfully restored the national electrical grid, which collapsed in the early hours of Monday.
On Monday afternoon, Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, issued a statement making this declaration.
The system experienced a significant decrease in power capacity, dropping from 2,583.77 MW at 2 a.m. on Monday to 64.7 MW at 3 a.m.This is the sixth time the grid will collapse in 2024.
Mbah stated that the failure of the national grid was a result of a fire outbreak at the Afam power-plant.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored the national grid after a fire event at the Afam power-producing facility, which resulted in a partial disruption of the country’s grid.
The Ibom Power Plant was disconnected from the electrical grid during the incident, this significantly reduced the system disruption’s impact.
The TCN has verified that the impacted portion of the grid has been completely repaired and made stable,” she stated.
She stated that the corporation will persist in allocating resources towards initiatives aimed at enhancing the grid infrastructure.
“The TCN reiterates its dedication to improving the durability and dependability of the national grid and promises to persist in investing in initiatives aimed at fortifying the grid infrastructure,” she guaranteed.
