Remi Tinubu makes mega donation to fight TB

 

Senator Remi Tinubu, the First Lady, made a generous donation of N1 billion on Thursday to aid the efforts in eradicating the TB pandemic in Nigeria by the year 2030.The Global Stop TB Partnership appointed Tinubu as the global and national Stop TB champion.

 

We acknowledged the First Ladies of all 36 states as champions in their respective jurisdictions in the fight against tuberculosis.Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which primarily targets the lungs, as stated by the World Health Organisation.Mrs.

Tinubu underscored that her investiture acts as a clarion call for heightened efforts in the battle against TB.

 

She emphasized the significance of joint endeavours, emphasizing that eradicating the widespread problem of tuberculosis necessitates the active involvement and commitment of all sections of society.Following Mrs. Tinubu’s contribution and the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, other notable organizations have committed to providing ongoing assistance for Nigeria’s objective of eradicating tuberculosis.

 

The World Health Organisation (WHO), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria (GFTAM), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Global Stop TB Partnership Geneva have all restated their dedication to assisting Nigeria in attaining this crucial goal.
