35 killed in the Niger and Benue attacks

 

More details about the attack on Madaka town in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have emerged, suggesting that the violent incident allegedly claimed the lives of more than 20 people.

The attack claimed the lives of two monarchs and the leader of the vigilante group in the community on Thursday.

Additionally, the bandits successfully took control of two nearby settlements, destroying residences and stores.

According to reports, armed individuals forcefully entered the village at about 3 p.m. on Thursday and fired their weapons without any regard for specific targets, resulting in several fatalities and injuries.

 

Saleh Kakuri, the village leader of the Madaka community, and Iko, the deputy commander of the vigilance group in the Madaka District of Rafi, both perished in the attack.Rev. Jonathan Adagbe, the Chairman of Logo LGA, verified the attacks to journalists over the phone on Friday.

 

He stated that the attacks occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday.In Yongia Ukambie Tiev, Ukembregya/Tswarev ward, he reported the deaths of two individuals on Tuesday and five on Wednesday evening.

 

He suggested that the herdsmen were responsible for the killings. Despite my presence at the location, they persisted in grazing on the opposite side of the road, asserting that it belonged to Taraba State.

It was impossible for anyone to just approach them. I lodged a complaint over the event with Chief Joseph Har, the Special Adviser on Security and Internal Affairs, Dennis Akura, the Special Adviser of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the DSS (Department of State Services), and the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Internal Services.
