Tiwa Savage set to make her acting debut
The legendary Afrobeats diva, Tiwa Savage, is preparing to make her acting debut in a major motion picture! In the enthralling picture “Water & Garri,” she will make her acting debut. She plays both an actor and an executive producer in the film.
Taking place in the United States during the past decade, “Water & Garri” is directed by Meji Alabi and follows the life of Aisha, a driven fashion designer.
But after a death in the family, she goes back to her home country.
However, Aisha now faces a new reality at home, where tensions are high and violence has intensified.
Reconnecting with loved ones and acquaintances from her past forces her to face her own wounds and the shame she carries from her previous mistakes.
The film promises to have captivating cinematography and a compelling storyline, shot in the lovely city of Cape Coast, Ghana. Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde are three gifted actors who will accompany Tiwa Savage on her dramatic adventure.
They work together to give life to the characters against the backdrop of a nation undergoing transformation.Aside from being the name of a 2021 film, “Water & Garri” is also the name of Tiwa Savage’s five-song EP. The EP included works by Nas, Rich King, Amaarae, Brady, and Tay Iwar, among others. Pharrell Williams even praised it as”classic”.
