Bobrisky to appeal jail term

Popular crossdresser Bobrisky, also known as Idris Okuneye, has opted to appeal his six-month term for financial misconduct .

A Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to six months in prison for abusing the naira, as alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky’s counsel, Deji Adeyanju, appealed the trial judge’s decision to impose the maximum penalty of jail without the possibility of a fine.

The appeal seeks to invalidate Bobrisky’s six-month prison term and instead impose a fine of N50,000 for each count. This approach reflects Bobrisky’s intention to fight the harshness of the sentence and pursue alternative legal options to address the crimes levelled against him.

The appellate court’s answer to his appeal remains uncertain.
