Agriculture is one of the most lucrative and untapped sectors of Nigeria’s economy. Albeit, some states of the federation, subtly, have been falling in this sector. Enugu State, however, took the initiative to partner with the Foreign Commonwealth and Development. This is aimed at providing technical assistance so as to further improve agricultural productivity and the state’s agro-allied sector in general.

Enugu State is one of the states endowed with natural resources in Nigeria. Over the years, it has mass produced crops like cashew, oil palm, and vegetables that are mostly grown in temperate regions outside Nigeria and in some parts of northern Nigeria like Plateau, Kano, Kaduna, Zaria, and so on.

The most pressing global issues of our day, such as mass migration, insecurity, violence, and poverty and disease, are addressed by FCDO. The sustainable agriculture initiatives of FCDO produce effective results that are sensitive to local conditions.

The Foreign  Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has pledged to partner with the Enugu State government on food production and other agricultural developments. It began in 2023 and stretched to this year. The programme, which has been received from the executive governor of Lagos State and a host of others, will take the state one step ahead in agro-allied advancement. The organisation head further established that the programme is aimed at reducing conflict over natural resources.
